Scott Cox
Director

Scott is the proud founder of Ignite Engineering and the driving force behind the Mission, Vision & daily operation of the company. As an Engineer, Scott brings an exceptional level of versatility and capability to his role.
Originally from a trade background in fabrication & welding, Scott gained hands-on experience in a range of heavy industries both within Australia and internationally. After completing his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering he went on to further post-graduate study in the structural domain. Scott has brought his uniquely practical approach to the engineering profession since this time.
Ed Butcher
Engineering Manager
BSc (Mech), TMIEAust, CEngT, NER
Ed brings over 25 years of engineering and design expertise to Ignite. His broad experience working across many industries has helped develop a level-headed simple approach to solving the most challenging problems. Ed utilises his leadership and management skills to guide the business and the team enabling personal growth while maintaining a focus on client satisfaction.
Having moved over from UK 15 years ago he is still acclimatizing to the Queensland climate. Ed is currently looking to further his qualifications and is working towards his RPEQ accreditation.
Kelly Kruger
Business & Projects Administration
As the Business and Projects Administrator, Kelly brings over two decades of experience supporting operations across a variety of industries. She plays a key role in coordinating the commercial components within Ignite’s projects, managing business processes, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
With a strong eye for detail and a passion for organisational efficiency, she enjoys contributing to Ignite. Her dedication and professionalism make her an essential part of the team’s ongoing success.
Tobias Hartmann
Senior Design Engineer
MEng (Nav. Arch.), MIEAust, NER, RPEQ, RPEV
Tobias is the analyst of the team and a great example of why engineers from his native Germany are so well revered the world over. Despite his extensive education in marine engineering, Tobias brings a high level of versatility and wide ranging skills to his role at Ignite.
He specialises in the structural assessment of large and complex industrial equipment with a passion for simple and efficient design solutions.
Sam Jones
Senior Design Engineer
BEng (Mech), Grad Cert (Struct.), MIEAust
With four plus years’ prior experience in product design for the heavy vehicle and motorsport industries. Sam joined the Ignite team in 2020 and transitioned his passion for the design process into the temporary works space.
Sam has a natural tendency to be client and solution focused which makes him a great fit within the Ignite Engineering team. Excelling at rapid modelling and design iteration, he enjoys working closely with clients to develop their ideas into finished designs/products.
Josh Cain
Senior Design Engineer
BEng (Mech), Grad Cert (Struct.), MIEAust
Josh is a detail-oriented Design Engineer with international project management experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Alongside his commercial acumen, Josh prides himself on developing and maintaining strong client relationships, with emphasis on efficiently delivering projects.
Outside of his role at Ignite Engineering, Josh has developed design and application experience in the performance automative field through extensive workshop experience.
Sam Roubin
Senior Design Engineer
BEng (Hons) Mech, MIEAust, NER, RPEQ, RPEV
Sam is a Senior Design Engineer specialising in the analysis and design of mechanical and structural systems across a diverse range of industries. His experience includes the design of steel and aluminium structures, lifting equipment, cranes and winches, as well as structural inspections and site support.
With a practical, solutions-focused approach, Sam enjoys working closely with clients to develop safe, efficient and buildable engineering solutions, combining strong analytical capability with an appreciation for the realities of fabrication, construction and installation.

Mario Springolo

Mario is a passionate civil engineer and published author, recognised for his deep expertise and leadership in the field. Since completing his PhD in 2005, he has built a distinguished career spanning consultancy and local government, where he has applied his technical knowledge to deliver practical and innovative solutions.
Highly respected by peers and clients alike, Mario is committed to advancing civil engineering practices and mentoring the next generation of professionals, ensuring long-term positive impact in the industry.
Jay Wardrop
Design Engineer

Jay is a driven and detail-oriented Design Engineer who is currently working towards attaining Chartered status and RPEQ registration. He has valuable experience in the design and integration of rotating shaft machinery and structural components, bringing both technical expertise and a practical mindset to his work.
Jay is known for his commitment to high-quality engineering outcomes and collaborative project delivery. As an integral member of the Ignite team, he consistently contributes to innovative, reliable solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
Carmela Allia
Design Engineer
MSc in Engineering (Fuel Cells & Hydrogen), MIEAust
Carmela is a results-driven and technically skilled engineer with global experience in mechanical engineering. Holding a Master’s degree in Engineering Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Technology, she combines advanced technical expertise with hands-on design engineering capabilities.
Her background spans innovative design, problem-solving, and delivering practical engineering solutions across international projects. Passionate about advancing sustainable technologies and driving efficiency, Carmela brings both technical depth and creative insight to every project.

Jackson Gould

Jackson graduated from the University of Southern Queensland in 2021. With strong experience in mechanical and hydraulic design, he brings a practical and thoughtful approach to solving complex engineering challenges. Known for his attention to detail and commitment to quality, he focuses on delivering reliable, efficient solutions that meet client needs.
His solid technical foundation and hands-on mindset make him a valuable contributor to the success of each project he supports.

Brendan Dever

Brendan is a highly valued member of the Ignite team, ringing over 45 years of industry experience to his role. After a career spent in the meat processing industry, his expertise includes project management, material handling, refrigeration and complex automated systems.
In his present position, Brendan works closely with our clients to help them find innovative & practical solutions to their unique industrial challenges. In his spare time, Brendan enjoys an impressive array of hobbies along with university studies in sustainable living.
Glen Schienpflug

Glen is a highly accomplished manager of people, processes and projects and is at ease finding solutions to complex real-world problems. After commencing his career as a fitter & turner, Glen’s recent roles included local Engineering Manager of a global manufacturing company.
Following a recent change of professional direction, Glen is now indulging his passion for design here at Ignite. His rare combination of technical background, industrial experience and high-level of professional capacity make him very well suited to this role. Although he wouldn’t freely admit it, Glen is a remarkably talented technical sketcher.
Roy Cox
Project Manager
Roy is a Registered General and House Builder, Carpenter and Joiner by trade and brings with him more than 45 years in the building industry. Over the years, Roy has worked in varying roles including house construction, project management and construction management as well as successfully delivering Department of Defence projects across the Darling Downs for 18 years.
The role of Project Manager sees Roy provide his specialised defence industry knowledge to ensure defence capabilities and expectations are met in conjunction with leading the Ignite Engineering team in a wide range of defence infrastructure projects.
